    The Connecticut Agriculture Experiment Station is a state-funded scientific research center to investigate plants and their pests, insects, soil and water; to analyze food, pesticides, fertilizers, and other products for state departments; to identify ticks to species; and to test spirochetes that cause Lyme Disease.  The station's web site includes information about the station, its board and staff, its history and mission, and office locations. It also includes information about upcoming public events, news releases, current research, and weather data. The site also offers information about station services in insect information and problems, soil testing, plant information and problems, tick testing and information, and mosquito surveillance, as well as information on available speakers and community outreach projects.  Publication available on the site in HTML format include the Pest Handbook, fact sheets, and reports and summaries of station projects.

    The official Connecticut state home page includes information on the state, its government, its history, tourism, commerce, education, and state agencies and organizations.  It also provides detailed information on each of the state's 169 municipalities in the Town Profiles section. Each profile includes information on demographics, economics, education, local government, housing, labor force, and quality of life.  Additional information in available through an extensive list of state, regional, and local links, which are organized by subject.

    The Housatonic Valley Council of Elected Officials serves ten municipalities in western Connecticut. Available on the web site are a growth guide map of the region, municipal development history information, and the transportation planning report. Information about demographics, maps, and other publications available from the council are listed. Links to regional and state web sites are also included.

    The Capitol Region Council of Governments is the largest of the fifteen state regional planning agencies, serving the city of Hartford and surrounding suburban and rural communities.  The web site offers an overview of the council, its programs, board and staff; information on community development programs, transportation projects, jobs, purchasing, and municipal services. It also includes a calendar, and a variety of council publications in most program areas available online in PDF format.

    The regional planning agency of central western Connecticut, the Council of Governments of the Central Naugatuck Valley serves the city of Waterbury and outlying areas.  The agency's web site includes information on the region, its history, geography, and demographics, and detailed information on the planning board and its meetings. It also includes information on goals and projects in conservation and development, economic development, and transportation planning.  It also provides links to other regional planning agencies and state agencies related to planning issues.

    The Department of Agriculture's web site provides listings of current and upcoming events in Connecticut agriculture, assistance for agribusiness, and information about the department's services.  Special sections of the site include the Farmland Preservation program; the Farmers' Market, which provides information on locally grown crops currently in season; license applications; agribusiness assistance and resource information; general Connecticut agriculture information; and department publications available online.  The site also includes a listing of agricultural resources on the internet, both within Connecticut and at the federal level.

    The Department of Economic and Community Development is a state agency promoting stronger communities through economic growth. The department's web site includes information about the department and how it works, including a downloadable video in QuickTime format. It also includes information on the department's economic development programs and services, and its housing programs and services. The site offers brief descriptions of each program, with links to programs' own pages where available.  The site also includes a listing of department publications, including monthly publications, annually published reports, and other resources, available for viewing or downloading in PDF format.  The site also has press releases, extensive demographic and market data, downloadable forms, links to and information on other state sites, and information about regional offices.

    The Housatonic Valley Economic Development Partnership serves ten municipalities in western Connecticut. Its web site includes information about regional business resources, including information on starting and locating a business in the region; the work force; transportation and access; the community and quality of life; education and workforce training; and recreation and culture.

    The Connecticut Economic Resource Center is a private not-for-profit corporation formed through a partnership of utility and telecommunications companies with the state government to assist economic development in the state by helping business innovate and compete.  The web site offers information on registration, real estate in the state, general information about doing business in Connecticut, demographic information, and business assistance information. It also includes information about the center's services in research and marketing, economic development consulting, and business data and mapping. The site also includes center brochures, an annual report and membership directory, available for download in PDF format. News and upcoming events are also listed.  The site offers a list of links to development organizations ranging from local to worldwide organizations, arranged according to subject.

    The Department of Environmental Protection is a state agency to preserve natural resources while encouraging social and economic development in Connecticut.     The Central Connecticut Regional Planning Agency serves the central region surrounding New Britain and Bristol through technical assistance, development and operations recommendations, advising for joint operations between two or more municipalities, and a regional development plan.  The agency's web site includes demographic information on the region and individual town profiles. It has information on agency projects, including transportation projects and projects through the Central Connecticut Economic Development Alliance, a committee of the agency.     The Connecticut Rivers Alliance is a statewide organization of individuals and river organizations working to protect and improve Connecticut's rivers through sound policies and planning.  The web site includes information about the alliance and its member organizations, updates on state and federal legislation, an annotated list of other river protection resources on the web, an annotated listing of related publications available elsewhere online, news releases, and special alerts for immediate action.

    The Connecticut River Watershed Council is a citizen advocacy council to improve the wellbeing of the Connecticut River. The council works to disseminate information about the river's water quality, resources, and land use and development through the web site, publishing books, issuing newsletters and special alerts, and sponsoring public forums. They also operate a small grants program.  The web site includes information about the council, its special projects, publications, and grant opportunities.

    The Connecticut Rural Development Council is a partnership organization formed by the state and the U. S. Department of Agriculture to preserve the heritage and the physical, economic, and social qualities of life in rural Connecticut.  The web site includes information about the council and its projects in the areas of land use education, rural health care, public information forums, the Rural Road and Bridge Forum, the Connecticut Equestrian Center, their Pathways from Poverty Project, and the Open Space and Agricultural Land Preservation Forum.  The site includes the council's monthly newsletter, Rural CT News, online in PDF format. The site also includes the Rural Resource Directory, which lists contacts for rural issues both within the state and on the federal level.
