Allegheny Trail Alliance

Description: The Allegheny Trail Alliance is a coalition of seven trail-building organizations in southwestern Pennsylvania and western Maryland whose purpose is to assure the construction, maintenance and use of the multi-purpose trail between Pittsburgh, PA, and Cumberland, MD, where the trail will join the C&O Canal Towpath Trail, which continues on to Washington, DC.

Canal Place Heritage Area

Description: The Coalition for Smarter Growth is dedicated to preserving quality of life in the Washington Region for current and future generations. We believe that suburban sprawl is contributing to higher taxes in developing jurisdictions and to disinvestment and blight in older communities. We oppose public spending for an Outer Beltway which will contribute to sprawl without reducing traffic gridlock; destroy farmland, open space, and the environment; and subsidize the continued movement of jobs and residents from our Nation's Capital and older suburbs.
