Description:
Greenways are linear open spaces which can: provide corridors for the
migration of birds and wildlife; become trails for non-motorized transportation
or recreation, such as hiking, biking, horseback riding or roller blading;
buffer rivers, streams, ridgelines, and other natural features; protect
scenic vistas or preserve cultural and historic resources; and connect
existing areas of open land or recreational trails from town to town or
state to state. There are many greenways in Connecticut. Each year, the
DEP awards small grants of up to $5000 to municipalities, regional planning
organizations, and non-profit groups for greenway projects. Eligible activities
will include planning and design work, placement of signs, informational

of Transportation Description: The Connecticut General Statutes (Section 13b-31b) define a state scenic road as one that (a) passes through agricultural land or abuts land on which is located a historic building or structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places or the State Register of Historic Places, or (b) affords vistas of marshes, shorelines, forests with mature trees, or notable geologic or other natural features. The road shall have a minimum length of one mile and shall abut development which is compatible with its surroundings. Snowmobile Association Description: The Maine Snowmobile Association is an organization of over 32,000 snowmobilers (and friends) across the state and beyond its borders.
