Land Use Webinar Series kicks off with “Motivating and Engaging Volunteers in Local Governance”

First session: February 19th at 12:00 p.m. Eastern – “Motivating and Engaging Volunteers in Local Governance”

The Land Use Webinar Series, organized by Penn State Extension in partnership with the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association (PA-APA) and the Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development, is a series of monthly sessions that present in-depth information on land-use topics affecting the communities of Pennsylvania. This series benefits land owners, farmers, elected and appointed officials, developers, and community members who are involved in decision-making processes regarding using or preserving natural resources.

Event Details

Participate in this series of five sessions to gain insight into the current events in the community and interact with others about ongoing community projects. Registrants can select to attend individual sessions based on their interest. Sessions include:

  • February 19, 2025 – Motivating and Engaging Volunteers – Strategies to inspire and retain volunteers in local governance and community planning.
  • March 12, 2025 – Addressing the Housing Crisis – Collaborative approaches to developing local solutions with insights from the New Hampshire Housing Academy and the InvestNH program.
  • April 16, 2025 – “Data-Driven” Decision-Making – Understanding how data informs community planning and policy development.
  • May 7, 2025 – Changes in Pennsylvania Demographics – Trends and shifts impacting communities and planning efforts.
  • May 21, 2025 – The Impact of Tourism and Outdoor Recreation – Exploring economic effects at local and state levels.

All webinars will take place from 12:00-1:15 pm. Eastern Time.

Fees vary based on the number of sessions you’ll attend and the credits that you may or may not be seeking. Please visit the event home page and click on the “Fees” tab for more information.

Credits Available (Pending Approval)

Professional credits are offered through the PA-APA Chapter of the American Planning Association. Each webinar is 1.25 Credits or 6.25 Credits for the series.

Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinar.

A link to the recorded webinar will be emailed to registrants within ten business days after the live event. The recording will be accessible for six months from the event date.
