NERCRD is hiring!

NERCRD is seeking applicants for two open positions: postdoctoral scholar and administrative assistant

Postdoctoral Scholar: This position will be responsible for conducting economic and statistical analyses on a wide range of rural development topics, as determined by the Center’s emerging needs and priorities. There is a strong expectation that this research will contribute both to the science base as well as to informing U.S. rural economic development policy. Examples of topics to be studied range from policy impact assessments; the interdependence of rural and urban areas, as well as agricultural and non-agricultural industries; to the determinants and impacts of local economic well-being and health, including that of farmers and small businesses. The opportunity exists to work within Penn State’s Federal Statistic Research Data Center. Learn more and apply for the postdoc position here

Administrative Assistant (Business Manager): This position has many responsibilities including general overseeing of business processes and daily operations of the Center. Care and attention to detail are needed to ensure that all awarded budgets – such as for research grants, general and federally appropriated-funds – are in place and that all costs, including salaries, are charged appropriately and accurately, and balances are monitored and drawn down consistently. In addition, the business manager works closely with the Director to develop budgets and budget justifications for proposals, hire new employees, and correspond with collaborators and stakeholders frequently. Scheduling, preparations and meeting minutes are also required for internal, regional and national collaborators. Special project work includes technical support for webinars and conference proceedings. Learn more and apply for the administrative assistant position here
