Northeast Extension teams honored with national, regional awards!

In June, several members of the National Association for Community Development Extension Professionals (NACDEP) were recognized with awards. The awards were presented at the 2024 NACDEP meeting, which took place in Houston, TX, and was hosted by Prairie View University. Among this year’s awardees were several Northeast NACDEP members – please join us in congratulating them on the well-deserved honor!
- University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension members Scott Slattery, Suzanne Cagle, Michael Polizzotti, Nate Bernitz, Charlie French, and Patricia Prescott were recognized as the National Winner of the Excellence in Community Development Programming Award in the Team Category, for their New Hampshire Housing Academy program! - Penn State Cooperative Extension members John Turack, Neal Fogle, Peter Wulfhorst, Matt Spindler, Er Yue and Cristy Halerz-Schmidt were recognized as the National Runner Up for the Excellence in Teamwork award for their program, “Partnering to Create PA Municipal Active Transportation Plans.” Read more at Penn State News.
- West Virginia State University Extension’s Adam Hodges was recognized with a Trail Blazer Award. Hodges was the first person from an 1890 institution to serve as a president of NACDEP, and continues to serve on the NACDEP Board of Directors. This year’s conference was the first to be hosted by an 1890 institution!
- A national team that included University of Maine’s Jason Entsminger and NERCRD’s Stephan Goetz and Kristen Devlin was recognized as the Regional Runner Up for the Excellence in Teamwork award for their National Listening Session initiative. Other members of this team include RRDC colleagues John Green, Grace Langford, and Rachel Welborn of the Southern Rural Development Center; Maria Marshall, Michael Wilcox, Renee Wiatt, and Zuzana Bednarikova of the North Central Rural Development Center; and Betsy Newman and Don Albrecht of the Western Rural Development Center.
