
Northeast Housing Summit Call for Presentation Proposals

The Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development (NERCRD) and Land-Grant partners are pleased to announce a call for proposals for presentations on the topic of housing for inclusion in the upcoming Northeast Region Housing Summit, which will take place virtually on September 15 or 22, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM ET.
Proposals are invited from academics, practitioners, and community members for 30-minute breakout sessions that describe housing-related projects and strategies. Potential topic areas for sessions include but are not limited to:
- Programs that address housing affordability
- Increasing access to housing
- Intergenerational and workforce housing
- Community programs that have addressed housing affordability
- Research and data tools that support housing decision-making
- Land use and regulations
- Collaborative partnerships and cross-sector approaches
- Success stories from communities
Proposals are due July 6th and should be submitted through this NERCRD Housing Summit proposal submission form. Proposals should include:
- presentation title
- names of all authors and their affiliations
- topic area(s) to be addressed
- presentation abstract (250 words maximum recommended) and abbreviated abstract for advertising (50 words maximum)
- 2-3 learning objectives for participants.
We will notify you of proposal acceptance beginning July 31st.
The Northeast Housing Summit will provide an opportunity for participants across the Northeast region to learn from one another and expand capacity for housing programming in the Northeast. Sessions will include presentations from NERCRD on rural housing affordability, a panel on workforce housing, and a mapping demonstration to explore the spatial relationships between land value, housing, and surrounding socioeconomic and environmental conditions. More information will be posted to the NERCRD website as it becomes available. NERCRD is one of four regionally focused Rural Development Centers funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) to link the research and educational outreach capacity of the nation’s public universities with communities, local decision-makers, entrepreneurs, families, and farmers and ranchers to help address a wide range of development issues. NERCRD is hosted at Penn State and serves the Northeast states from Maine to West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
