NERCRD is please to kick off its 2025 webinar series on March 20th at 1:00 p.m. Eastern, with “Marylanders Online: Bridging the Digital Divide in Rural Communities,” an exploration of the innovative strategies and initiatives developed by University of Maryland Extension (UME) aimed at increasing internet access and digital literacy in Maryland’s rural areas.

About the Speakers

Together, Teri and Julie bring a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to help attendees understand and address the challenges of digital inclusion in rural Maryland.

Teri Mumm brings over two decades of experience leading digital equity initiatives and collective impact projects. As the Digital Navigator Program Manager at the University of Maryland Extension, she advances statewide efforts to enhance digital literacy and access for under-resourced communities. Teri’s background includes roles as a Digital Access Program Manager in Utah and a Digital Inclusion Fellow with NTEN. Her expertise in stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and team leadership has been instrumental in scaling digital literacy programs across multiple states. With a B.S. in Marketing Management and certifications in Digital Equity and AI Strategy, Teri brings valuable insights to her work in advancing digital inclusion.

Julie Slivka serves as UME Marylanders Online’s communications manager and has a passion for empowering rural communities through access and inclusion. She has developed and implemented successful training initiatives across Maryland, reaching thousands of residents. Julie’s expertise lies in developing strategic outreach and educational programs that address the unique needs of rural learners, with a focus on digital literacy.
